
Club History
Woodsetts Cricket Club was founded in March 1973 and for the first season played friendly's before joining the Doncaster Cricket League for the 1974 Season. The club continued in this league until the 1983 season and then moved to join the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League for the 1984 Season, the club has remained a member club to the present 2009 season.
The founder members consisted of Dennis Grayson (Secretary), Richard Swann (Chairman), David Hooton(Treasurer), Alf Whitfield (President), George Mellors, Arthur Clifton, Peter Connell whilst the first league captain was Malcolm Furnival. Of these Alf, George and Arthur have sadly passed on. Peter still keeps his interests in the club via his son Rohan Connell who is currently the club Chairman and a key part of the second team. Richard is the current President and since retiring from playing also umpires in the league as the Clubs nominated umpire.
The Club operated one league team until a second team was formed for the 1991 season then subsequently a third team was formed for the 2001 season. The third team played the 2001 season in the Sheffield and District League before moving into the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League for the 2002 season.
The 1st's and 2nd's Teams have played at the Recreation Ground Woodsetts since 1973 and 1991 respectively, but moved to play at the Cricket Ground, Shireoaks from 2001 whilst the 3rd Team and Juniors (from 2001 - 2008) played at Woodsetts. From the 2008 season the 2nd team moved back to Woodsetts with the 3rd team leaving just the 1st Team playing at Shireoaks.
The Club is currently trying to set up a junior team.
